Well and truely in outback Australia

Second day of leg two and we are well and truly in outback Australia. We left Winton at 4:30am and continued our journey west. There is about 380 kilometres between Winton and Cloncurry in outback Queensland and nothing in between, except a small road house at Kynuna called the Kynuna Roadhouse. Needless to say we are now out of communication range for most of the day (apart from the satellite phone) until we reach major towns. This means that the Omniscout will be dropping in and out and photos and video footage may not be as regular. So for all of the addicted bloggers out there please be patient with us and we will endeavour to get them updated as quickly as we can!

The landscape out here is far more barren than we have experienced to date, not as much wildlife with only a few kangaroos sighted today. The weather on the other hand continues to be sensational, only dropping down to 7 degrees overnight.

Last night we stayed at Matilda Country Tourist Caravan Park in Winton where we were treated to a performance by travelling bush poet Melanie Hall. I’d like to say a big thank you to Melanie for entertaining us after a long day and donating all the money raised from her performance to the charity, another $420 – fantastic effort.

As we are unable to upload today’s photos to the blog I thought it might be a good opportunity to share my inspiration with all of you and remind everyone of the true purpose of this journey.
